Nompumelelo Buthelezi, professionally known as Lelow B, is a KwaZulu-Natal-born singer and songwriter whose music is rooted in Afro-soul, R&B and House

Born and raised in Peacetown, Ladysmith, Lelow B discovered her love for music in 2014, beginning a journey that would take her from her hometown to stages across South Africa and into international music spaces.
What makes Lelow B stand out is the honesty and soul that sit at the centre of her music. Her sound draws from different influences while allowing her distinctive voice and emotional delivery to remain at the forefront. Over the years, she has continued to explore music through both her solo work and collaborations, building a catalogue that reflects her growth as an artist.
Her journey began professionally with an opportunity to work with local label CMP3 Records. From there, she became involved with Ezase West Entertainment and went on to perform at a number of notable events and platforms, including the Soweto Kota Festival, Alfred Duma Municipality events, the Ladysmith Show and the Africa Fashion Alive Meets Arts collaboration at Maponya Mall.
Lelow B has also shared stages with established names in the South African music industry and has been associated with the Kalawa Jazmee stable. She featured on Trompies’ “Gologo” alongside Professor and has worked with artists and producers including DJ Active, Mpumi, Rocka, DJ Bigsky, Brice M and others.
In 2019, Lelow B released her debut single under Ezase West Entertainment, which was subsequently featured on the front page of a Caxton Urban Newspaper. Her single “Valentine” later made an impact at Chiawelo Radio, reaching No. 2 and leading to her first official Valentine Single Tour.
The following year saw another significant chapter in her career with the release of her Journey EP. The project expanded her audience and eventually led to a publishing deal with Sheer Africa. The EP also attracted international attention, including interest connected to Roc Nation artist Vic Mensa and opportunities to engage with international producers, writers and label executives through WorldScout.Me.

Lelow B further demonstrated her ability to compete on an international level when she entered the “Who’s Next” competition, progressing through five rounds to reach the quarter-finals, where she ranked No. 5 among more than 5,000 artists.
Her music has continued to take her into different spaces. She has contributed to collaborative projects, including work with DJ Bigsky, Demor Music and Rocka, while also releasing music of her own. Her 2022 single “Xola,” featuring Brice M, was accompanied by a music video sponsored by companies based in Ladysmith, a reflection of the strong connection she continues to maintain with her hometown and community.
Beyond music, Lelow B has always carried a strong sense of community. Earlier in her career, she was involved in community work through Nqubeko FM and initiated an anti-drug campaign aimed at encouraging young people to move away from substance abuse and focus on their futures through the arts. The initiative earned her an interview on Power FM in 2016.
Her career has therefore been shaped by more than releases and performances. It has been a journey of persistence, growth and finding her voice from a young woman from Ladysmith who fell in love with music, to an independent artist with a growing body of work and a story that continues to unfold.
In 2026, Lelow B enters another chapter of that journey with new music that reflects the woman and artist she has become. Her latest single, *“Imizwa,”* featuring *Nvcho, Zuma, Da Ish and Soulful G*, explores love, loyalty and the choice to continue choosing one another even when relationships are tested.
For Lelow B, music remains a space where real emotions can be expressed honestly. Whether singing about love, life or personal experiences, she continues to create from a place of feeling, allowing listeners to find pieces of their own stories in hers.
*From Peacetown to the wider South African music landscape, Lelow B is still writing her story, one song, one stage and one chapter at a time.*
