Cia Siwela Invites Listeners Into a Journey of Prayer, Healing and Light With Afro-House Single Ebumnyameni

What happens when we acknowledge the darkness we find ourselves in and allow ourselves to seek the light? For South African vocalist and genre-bending artist Cia Siwela, that question lies at the heart of Ebumnyameni, a new Afro-House single exploring prayer, healing, spirituality and the many ways people find their way through difficult moments.
Set for release on 23 October 2026, Ebumnyameni marks the beginning of a two-part body of work that brings together Afro-House’s rhythmic energy and a deeply personal spiritual narrative. The result is an invitation to listen, reflect and move, allowing the music to create space for both introspection and dance.
At its core, Ebumnyameni is a prayer that begins with an honest admission: “I’m in the dark.” Rather than rushing towards resolution, the song recognises the importance of acknowledging where we are before we can begin to find our way forward. It speaks to those moments when we are searching for answers, grounding or a sense of connection beyond ourselves.
Through its Afro-House foundation, the song brings this introspective journey into a genre that makes room for rhythm and movement without losing sight of its message. Rooted in the power of chant as a sacred bridge between heaven and earth, Ebumnyameni explores how Black South Africans connect with the divine through God, spirituality and ancestral traditions, while leaving space for each listener to find their own meaning.
For Siwela, the anticipation surrounding the release comes with both excitement and vulnerability. “I’m both excited and nervous about this release. It’s been a beautiful experience creating this song, I just hope its message resonates with the masses and creates a powerful dialogue about our essence, how we pray and how we dance,” he says.
It is this intersection of prayer, identity and movement that gives Ebumnyameni its distinctive character. The song invites listeners to consider how spirituality is experienced, expressed and carried through everyday life, including the ways people gather, sing, chant and dance. As the first instalment of a two-part release, the song offers an introduction to a wider creative exploration of what it means to pray, to heal and to find expression through music.
Ebumnyameni will be available across all major digital streaming platforms.
